Fans haven’t heard much about what we are going to get from Agents of SHIELD after episode 4×15, “Self Control,” which airs next Tuesday, February 21. When we learned the episode names through “Self Control,” we anticipated that this would be the conclusion of the Life Model Decoy (LMD) “pod” of episodes. While there hasn’t been any formal announcement of the end of the Pod, the schedule for upcoming episode airdates reveals a large break that points toward next week being the end of the LMD storyline that has dominated the show in 2017.
Episode 4×16 (the title of which has yet to be announced) will air on April 4. That’s six weeks with no new episodes before the show returns for what we anticipate will be the third and final story arc of the season. When the ‘Pod’ concept was announced, the idea was that the show would have three arcs that would each air uninterrupted. Assuming that is still the plan, that there are seven more episodes, and that none of those episodes are broken into two parts, this means that the season finale for Agents of SHIELD will air on May 16.
We still don’t know what the third pod of the season will be, or if any of the actual, human, members of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be alive. There is a lot for Fitz and Simmons to overcome in this next episode, and it will surely leave us wanting those six weeks to pass by as quickly as possible.
Do you want more discussion of where Agents of SHIELD might be going, schedule-wise? We discussed this exact possibility in this week’s MCU Exchange Podcast. If you haven’t checked it out yet, here it is!
