Here is a nice surprise for followers of the Marvel Television side of the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe. The TV Academy is slowly getting its nominations together for the official Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony, which will air on September 17 on CBS with Stephen Colbert hosting. While superhero projects have become quite known for being snubbed to some degree when it came to awards, it is quite pleasant to see two Marvel shows have made it into the short list for this year’s Emmy.
In the category of Special Visual Effects we have Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which makes sense given the amount of work that was put into making Ghost Rider look as realistic as possible. The show is in the company of giants of this past year like Westworld, The Man in the High Castle or Legion. It is a great thing to see the show earn some recognition after a very good season that had the agents fight the supernatural Ghostrider, an L.M.D. and a world that was taken over by HYDRA. Hopefully the show will manage to get into the final list of nominees.

Another honor for Marvel Television is Luke Cage on the short-list for Outstanding Special Visual Effects. Going by the visual effects used to make Cage’s impenetrable skin look as amazing as it did, the nomination alongside Taboo, The Crown and many other shows is a great sign to see Marvel TV’s endeavors paying off with some recognition within the industry.

It will be interesting to see if both shows can work their way towards final nominations. To this day, it is still sad that Vincent D’Onofrio never received a nomination for his outstanding performance in the first season of Daredevil, but we are sure to see more of the character in future seasons, which will hopefully give him another chance at a nomination, as well as a much deserved win.
Where else would you like to see Marvel Television break into the Emmys? Let us know, in the comments.
