Alan Tudyk, whose seminal portrayal of Hoban “Wash” Washburne in Joss Whedon’s Firefly made him one of fandom’s favorites, is currently making the rounds with the press due to his latest role in the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as the latest in audience-pleasing Star Wars droids K-2SO. When he chatted with Fandango recently it was brought up to him that, what with his work not only in Rogue One, but also in Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph, Zootopia, Big Hero 6 and Moana, he should be in ALL movies coming from Disney. Tudyk seemed to like the idea…

…it’s one I’m trying to push, because I want to get in one of the Marvel movies!

When quizzed on which MCU film he’d like to appear in, the former Serenity pilot enthusiastically identified, without hesitation, Guardians of the Galaxy. The reasons are simple and obvious: it’s a genre he’s comfortable with and he likes and has worked with director James Gunn on films before.

Fandango took to Twitter to let Gunn know about Tudyk’s desire and to encourage him to make it happen! Gunn was equally excited to say the least:

So, it seems as done a deal as anything could be for a role not cast in a next sequel to a film that hasn’t been released yet! One gets the feeling that should there be a Vol. 3 film (and there’s no reason to think otherwise), Tudyk would be an easy and natural fit into such a universe, and it would be great to see him act rather than just hear his voice. With both the actor and director into the idea, it just seems like we’re waiting for the greenlight for the film…

…and, of course, the release of Vol. 2–which, thankfully, we do have concrete knowledge about: Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5, 2017!

What do you think? Tudyk in the MCU in general…in Guardians specifically…something you could get excited about? Let us know in the comments section below.
