Angelina Jolie is set to play Thena in The Eternals for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and her kids are the most excited for her upcoming role. In a recent interview with People.com, Jolie expressed her excitement in joining the MCU and what it means for her children.
What’s really moving to me is that they want to see me strong, and so it’s less to see me in a film, but they’re just happy I will be strong and having fun.
Jolie also said that her character, Thena, is a ‘warrior’ and she is going to work very hard to give the MCU the Thena that they deserve. She also shared the intense training that she is currently doing in which she described as doing ‘everything from swords to ballet.’
Jolie playing Thena is somewhat of a surprise, for fans who’ve been eyeing the casting. For the longest time, it was believed that Jolie would be playing Sersi, the other main character of The Eternals and romantic interest of Richard Madden‘s Ikaris. Needless to say, it’ll be interesting how they bring this version of Thena to life.
