Here is some rather interesting information, as the Avengers are once again going global. We saw them in Seoul during the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron and Infinity War might see them explore planets beyond earth. Yet, our home planet will still play an integral role in the story as a recent casting call and information by Atlanta Filming may give some hints at another part of the world being explored as part of the Avengers franchise. This time it seems that Japan will be one of the many settings that will be explored in the franchise.
The first hint came from recent casting call sheet that was uncovered by Omega Underground that called out for Japanese gangsters and Japanese cafe patrons. This does hint at the involvement of the Yakuza to some degree in an action sequence, as it also states “slender build, this will be a night shoot and will involve rain work and facial prosthetics”. The sheet also revealed that this rain scene will be filmed from 17. until 18. August, which actually puts it around the time after the fourth sequel of Avengers starts production, which was hinted at by director Joe Russo at SDCC.
While some may hope that this is a sign that the HAnd from The Defenders may possibly make an appearance, as perhaps after the events of Infinity War we could see some minor events on earth and a rain fight sequence sounds like something straight out of Daredevil‘s repertoire, this may involve Steve Rogers, who would probably still be on the run. A recent tweet by Atlanta Filming confirms that filming for the second major project will move to Japan.

This does match up with previous casting sheets and opens up quite a lot of questions. This does sound like something that would involve Rogers or even Hawkeye, as they try to get their hands on some kind of information. The Russo Bros. could even surprise us with Thanos going on a rampage through the earth and encountering a few Yakuza that have no idea what exactly they are facing. Whatever this scene will entail, it will be quite interesting to see how the events unfold beyond what was teased at D23 and SDCC during Infinity War.
What are your thoughts on it? Why do you think the Avengers might be in Tokyo?
