Seems nothing is able to stop Avengers: Endgame at this point. It has now broken the international record of becoming China’s top foreign title of all time. It accomplished this by breaking the $500 billion barriers within just a little over a week. This title was held by The Fate of the Furious and it has now positioned itself as the sixth-highest-grossing film in the country. The astonishing feat is that the film has yet to drop below the 85% market share. It even managed to sit above 95% during its first five days in cinemas. The former titleholder never managed to surpass the 93% mark as pointed out by Variety. The film has currently broken 22 Chinese records, which includes the following:
- Highest pre-sales with $92 million
- Most midnight screenings with $28 million
- Highest single-day sales with $82 million
- Most sold tickets in a single week at $82 million
- Fastest film to cross ¥2 billion
The currently highest earning film in China is The Wandering Earth, the locally produced film earned $691 million. It seems unlikely that the film will pass this milestone but the numbers are pointing to Avengers: Endgame snagging the third-highest earning with around $625 million. This is around $100 million more than what early estimates expected from the film. The latest Avengers film has been getting a lot of attention worldwide and this will certainly help it to surpass Avatar. This is some great news as we enter the next weekend before the blockbuster faces its competition.
How often have you seen Avengers: Endgame by now? Do you think it will continue to break international records?
