The title of the fourth Avengers film might be the studio’s worst kept secret. After months of speculation whether it was going to be Annihilation and the Russo‘s themselves denying that the title was uttered in Infinity War, it turns out the title was indeed under our noses all along. Kevin Feige was asked point black by MTV News if Endgame had been the title from the start saying:
It was in place before we started developing the movie. Or just as we were developing it, yes. Doctor Strange says that line because we knew it was the title.
I guess that settles any claims about the studios changing the title multiple times because of Twitter ‘leaks.’ Looking back, it’s crazy to think about the buzz and anticipation that surrounded the film’s title. When the title came out last month, I was one of the few who thought they could have gone for a more uplifting thematic title like Avengers: Forever, signifying a decade-long legacy and the future of the MCU.
