Early predictions have already put Avengers: Infinity War as the next highest grossing opening domestic weekend ever. It makes sense given that this is a film ten years in the making and jumping off of the recent success of Black Panther. Right now, it seems nothing can truly stop the behemoth that is Marvel Studios. Now that we are only a few days away from the official release, we finally have a clearer picture of how the film will potentially perform internationally. According to Deadline, Infinity War will open this weekend with half a billion. Current predictions put it at a $498 million internationally with the domestic haul making up $235 million.
The interesting aspect of this prediction is the slight dip in its domestic opening. Not too long ago the film was set to open around $248 million, which is slightly above the current record-holder Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which we covered about a week ago. Now, Deadline is placing the film’s domestic opening lower which may be a sign for a more conservative prediction. Early buzz and criticism towards the film are positive and Social Media is ablaze with theories, news, and opinions towards the film. As Entertainment Weekly points out, the latest Marvel film has also reached quite an impressive number of pre-orders over at Fandango. Black Panther is the perfect proof how strong word-of-mouth can be and its impact on the Box Office. There is the possibility that the film will surpass the $500 million.
What do you think? How much do you predict the film will make on its opening weekend?
