While fans are eagerly anticipating next year’s Avengers: Infinity War, more production news has surfaced. With executive producer Kevin Feige confirming that Thanos (Josh Brolin), will be the focus of the film, it’s no surprise that the holder of the ‘reality gem’, The Collector (Benicio Del Toro) will be appearing.

In a recent Instagram live stream, Brolin revealed that he will be filming scenes with Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Salanda (Gamora), as well as Del Toro, who had not been previously confirmed. While that video has been deleted shortly after it was posted, we did manage to find an image of Del Toro hanging out in Atlanta early this week.

Del Toro has been featured in two Marvel films so far. First in his tag scene for Thor: The Dark World, before appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy the following year. In an interview for Guardians of the Galaxy, Del Toro shed some light on his character’s motives, which may hint at his role in Infinity War.

He’s kind of like Noah, from Noah’s Arc. He believes there’s going to be a big catastrophe in the galaxy. He’s collecting all these creatures to preserve them, so there’s an element of altruism.

In the comics, Thanos interaction with the Collector took place in an arc most known as Thanos Quest, wherein the Mad Titan journeys to complete his Infinity Gem collection. Needless to say, it’s more than likely that Infinity War will be partially inspired by Jim Starlin’s 1990 story. The story sees the Collector get duped into giving the Stone to Thanos and get beat up by another Elder called the Runner.
