It seems like things are really moving forward with Eternals as Matthew and Ryan Firpo have been hired as writers for their spec script Ruin, which quickly became popular in the 2o17 Black List. Ruin is about an ex-Nazi captain who hunts down his former squadron and kills them to atone for his crimes. This isn’t the first time that Marvel Studios has pulled writers from the Black List, as they’ve done so previously with Geneva Robertson-Dworet for Captain Marvel, who had two scripts sitting in the Black List when she was hired.

Still, it’s a bit surreal knowing that a property like The Eternals, created by Jack Kirby, is actually being worked on as a major tent-pole film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, we shouldn’t be surprised since the primary villain of Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos, is himself an Eternal afflicted with a mutation that made him an outcast among his people. So, that connection may very well be explored further in Eternals.
