Filming on Black Widow has been underway for a little under a month now, yet in that time the only actor we’ve seen on set has been the prequel’s star, Scarlett Johansson. Now, thanks to a new batch of set photos that emerged yesterday, we finally have our first look at Florence Pugh‘s character, who we now know to be Yelena Belova thanks to a sharp-eyed passerby onset.

In the set photos, we see two crates labeled Natasha and Yelena. While we’ve had blatant misdirections by Marvel onset – remember those B.A.R.F. labeled equipment cases on the set of Avengers: Endgame displayed for everyone to see? – the labels on these crates are more subtle. Add to that Pugh’s blonde hair, you have what practically is a confirmation.

A set video also reveals an action scene being filmed, with Scarlett Johansson and co-star Florence Pugh riding together on a motorcycle. One of the interesting things about these photos is that Yelena and Natasha will be seemingly allied at some point in the film. Comic fans know the tumultuous and violent encounters the two Black Widows have had against each other, so it’s interesting to see how they’re handling this relationship. Could we see an Obi-Wan/Anakin-esque relationship between these two assassins?

As a bonus, thanks to another set photo, we have our first (very blurry) look at the film’s logo. While this is almost certainly likely to change, as Marvel’s logos often do, it’s cool to see nonetheless.

Expect more details on Black Widow to be unveiled at SDCC, before its likely release in May 2020.
