Marvel Studios is hard at work preparing over a half-dozen new projects for Phase 4, set to debut with WandaVision on January 15, 2021 on Disney+. This will kickstart the most content-filled year in Marvel Cinematic Universe history with four new movies and three other new mini-series on the Disney streaming network.
2022 will then start with Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder, which will mark the first time any MCU solo hero has received a fourth solo movie before. With Chris Hemsworth returning as the God of Thunder alongside Natalie Portman taking on the role of Mighty Thor, this is set to be one of the largest-scale movies of the MCU’s near future. That scale is set to be built up even larger thanks to a new addition to the cast which should have fans cheering from the rooftops.
A new release from the Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Chris Pratt will be reprising his role as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in Thor: Love and Thunder, which is set to begin shooting in Australia as early as January 2021.
Even though this makes plenty of sense considering where fans last saw Star-Lord, it’s an incredibly exciting bit of news that should hopefully start the dominoes for some other major cast members to potentially join in. Thor and Star-Lord were seen together with the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy on the Benetar at the very end of Avengers: Endgame, about to set off on a galactic adventure that appears to start with finding 2014 Gamora.
This will hopefully be open the door for the rest of the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy to join into the fray, and Marvel fans are more than ready for this epic team-up to become a reality. Thor: Love and Thunder will release in theaters on February 11, 2022, as Thor adds Star-Lord to an already impressive cast of teammates.
