After seven weeks, Captain Marvel has thus far earned $400.03M at the domestic box office, representing 36.7% of its total box office. After an astonishing 5.6% increase from its last weekend of $8.612M for a take of $9.10M. It also stands at $1,089,526,133 globally making it the 25th highest grossing movie of all time.

This can be credited to Easter weekend, audiences seeing the latest standalone movie before Avengers: Endgame next week, and potential late female turnout for the movie. However, it should be noted that Captain Marvel is the only movie to have had an increase from last weekend and not drop, meaning that it can’t solely be credited to the holiday weekend.

This would make it the 7th movie in the franchise to pass $400M domestically. At this rate, it will pass both Captain America: Civil War ($408,084,349) and Iron Man 3 ($409,013,994), making it the 5th highest domestic gross of the Marvel Cinematic Universe only behind three Avengers movies and Black Panther.

It is also assured at this point that Captain Marvel will pass the domestic gross of Wonder Woman ($412,563,408). This would make it not only the highest grossing origin movie Now, this isn’t a knock against Wonder Woman, which still had unparalleled legs with a multiplier of 4, which surpasses the best of the MCU, Guardians of the Galaxy (3.53). As it stands, the current multiplier for Captain Marvel is 2.61, which is below the average for a movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (2.76*). Since Captain Marvel is still going to be in theaters for at least another 13 weeks, her multiplier is only going to get higher and catch up.

Considering that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 made another $14,861,470 after its seventh week at the box office, it’s safe to say that this would be the floor for Captain Marvel. This would still give her a healthy multiplier of 2.7 and pass Wonder Woman at the domestic box office, but I believe it will go further than that.
