It’s been said since the moment her movie was announced over four years ago, when Kevin Feige declared that Carol Danvers would be, by far, the most powerful superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Executive producer Jonathan Schwartz continues to echo this claim, while assuring fans that by the end of Captain Marvel she will have showcased all of her powers and abilities to the fullest.
“By the end of this movie we’ll have seen the full run of powers out of Carol.” Schwartz highlighted flight, strength and photon blasts, and also noted, “You know, I think part of what made us excited about the character was that she was such a powerful character in the comic books and one of the most, if not the most powerful character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and seeing all that brought to bear is one of the big pleasures of the movie.”
What he doesn’t mention is by far her most useful ability – energy absorption. Which I continue to believe will be what makes her so powerful in the MCU. Even compared to powerhouses like The Hulk and Thor. While they have displayed her Binary form in the trailers, they haven’t directly shown her energy absorption, so, it could be possible that they’re hiding some of her other powers too.
Such as one of her lesser known abilities in her Binary form, which is gravity manipulation.
Since Jonathan Schwartz has said that they will showcase all of her powers by the end of Captain Marvel, it’d be disappointing if this power was left out. This could certainly help cement her as the strongest superhero with a power like that at her command.
