Filming news regarding Captain Marvel has been mum for a while now ever since they announced Ryan Boden and Anna Fleck as its directors, with the exception of a few under-the-radar additions to the production team. But thanks to an interview via Indiewire, we now have an update from our lord and savior Kevin Feige, who gave an update about the inner workings of the film.
We’re really focusing on ‘Captain Marvel’ and the work that Anna and Ryan are doing. It’s going to be a big part of heading towards this epic conclusion and epic finale of 22 movies over the course of 10 years. That is focus for the next six movies we have to finish and get out. Really, the focus now is on delivering ‘Captain Marvel’ and then bringing Captain Marvel’s story into the finale of everything we’ve started thus far.
Captain Marvel and Ant-Man & the Wasp are the two Phase 3 solo films with the biggest question marks, due to their placement in the slate. Both are sandwiched between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 which begs the question: where exactly do they fit in the bigger picture? Ant-Man & the Wasp seems grounded for the most part if you disregard all the quantum realm elements but Captain Marvel is as cosmic as they get. Feige’s comments are an assurance that Carol Danvers will indeed be a major part of the conclusion we’ve been waiting for. We wouldn’t rule out the possibility of the ramifications of the purported Kree-Skrull War in Captain Marvel making its way into Avengers 4.
