Marvel Studios really knows how to build up its audience for a film. They had a massive year with major Box Office hits in Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther. Ant-Man and the Wasp also left a great mark on the companies’ Box Office success by outpacing its predecessor and leaving a great mark on an incredible year. Now, all eyes are on 2019 and if it could top last year’s success. They have some major films coming out with Avengers: Endgame following up after one of cinema’s largest cliffhangers. After last year’s massive turnaround for Spider-Man in gaming and in cinemas, the upcoming sequel Spider-Man: Far From Home will build up on a lot of hype.
Even with Endgame‘s presence, Captain Marvel is pushing forward without any problem and is currently outpacing Captain America: Civil War‘s preorder numbers within the first 24 hours. According to Fandango, this puts the film way ahead of Marvel’s heavy hitters like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Avengers: Age of Ultron and many more.

There is a good chance the film could join Marvel’s $1 billion clubs if the film continues to keep up the pace moving forward. It is Marvel Studios’ first female-led film so it will get quite a lot of attention, especially after their success with Black Panther. Some predictions state that its cultural impact may not be as significant but films like DC’s Wonder Woman proved that there is a strong following for such a film. The marketing has been quite effective to highlight the message behind their first female-led film and it will not go unnoticed. We could go with a rather conservative prediction and say it could landa round $600 to $700 million. This would put it around Doctor Strange‘s and Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Box Office run. Yet with a large opening and good reviews, the film may have legs to push it further. Moreover, Jordan Peele‘s Us got postponed by a week so it will have less competition to face moving forward.
