Carol Corps rejoice! After destroying the box-office early last year, the Captain Marvel sequel is now officially in development with a new writer, possibly a new director and 2022 tentative release date. According to THR, Marvel Studios has tapped Wandavision writer, Megan McDonnell, who is now in final negotiations for the film.
THR’s sources are saying that the film would be set in the present-day and that the first film’s directors, Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden are not returning to direct. THR also says that the Boden and Fleck are looking likely to remain in the Marvel family as they are in negotiations to possibly direct a Disney+ series.
After earning a billion dollars, it was only a matter of time until we saw some movement in this film. Kevin Feige teased it off the cuff last year at SDCC and now, we have the greenlight.
