Captain Marvel has already broken records in just its opening weekend. In just four days, the film has pulled in $455 million worldwide. It is a safe bet that we will get a sequel to Marvel Studios’ first female-led film after such a great start. The first film takes place in the 90s and gives us a good look at earth before the Avengers were even an idea. Now, they could either connect the dots between Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame or show us Carol Danvers after the events of Endgame. Luckily, Kevin Feige offered a few hints on what we can potentially expect from a sequel.

Well, we don’t know what she did, right? She said she was going to and she went flying off at the end, and then we jump many years into the future. What happened in that intervening time, I think, is something that would be a lot of fun to explore at some point. We have ideas for both. We’ll see. We always think and dream about potential additional adventures, but really focus on the one we literally finished a week and a half ago.

It was a bit of a missed opportunity when they rushed through Steve Roger’s time during World War 2 in Captain America: The First Avenger. Up until now, Marvel Studios tried to stick to a timeline as much as possible. Everything was building up to the confrontation with Thanos during Avengers: Infinity War. There haven’t been any hints at any new overarching villain so they might take a break from this format. The upcoming Black Widow film is rumored to also be set in the past so it is highly possible for a direct continuation. It would be cool to see a story set after Endgame that is connected to past events. Hopefully, we find out what they have planned after Endgame soon.
