Fresh off of our first look at Brie Larson in Captain Marvel set photos, we now have a working title for the film!

According to Production Weekly, Captain Marvel will be filming under the title “Open World.” This information comes after a slight bit of confusion involving the production and shooting schedule. Last year, it was reported that the working title for the film would be “Warbird.” This was an alias that Carol Danvers had used at certain points in her comic book history, and seemed like a perfect nod by the production team. However, it was later discovered that Warbird was not the working title, but rather the LLC for the film. MCUExchange’s own Charles Murphy discovered the reasons behind Captain Marvel’s odd shooting schedule, and as a part of that article he discussed the LLC for the company which can be seen below.

Hmm… that doesn't look like Avengers

So what does this mean? While it certainly appears that the working title will be “Open World”, fans should also expect to see the name Warbird Productions pop up across the internet as the film resumes principle photography, as this is still the LLC for the movie. The set pictures of Brie Larson in costume were taken from a one-week segment of filming which took place last month, and we except Captain Marvel to resume filming at the end of March. So if you spot either one of these names while meandering through Atlanta, tag us and let us know!

What do you think of the title “Open World?” For you gamers out there, this phrase should sound familiar. It typically refers to a vast, free-range area that is wide open for a character to explore. Carol Danvers certainly has a vast and rich comic book history to draw from. While she comes from earth, we know that this film will take us into the cosmos and introduce the alien species of the Skrulls into the MCU. It will also delve into the Quantum World which was introduced in Ant-Man. Since this film takes place between Avengers: Infinity War and the Untitled Avengers 4 movie, we do expect Captain Marvel to be a sort of bridge between these two event films. With all of the and more to work with, Brie Larson certainly has an open world to explore.
