If you’ve been following the casting process for Thor: Ragnarok, you have seen and read plenty of stories about Mark Ruffalo joining the cast and Cate Blanchett potentially appearing as well. Most recently, Blanchett sort of confirmed she would be joining the cast but there has yet to be a definitive yes from her or Marvel.

That still is the case, but Ruffalo seems to have confirmed it for both parties. He has previously confirmed both director Taika Waititi and Tom Hiddleston, after the latter had been acting like he may not appear. While speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he not only confirms she will appear, but also that she will be an enemy.

She’s just one of the best, and to have her play a baddie is going to be really exciting.

Ruffalo also explained how a previous encounter led to him begging her join the ensemble and now it appears she is doing just that. With him saying Blanchett will be a “baddie”, this will put to rest and rumblings that she could play Valkyrie or potentially female Thor.

The most likely options for her role seem to be either Hela, the daughter of Loki, or Enchantress, which could bring another love interest into the mix. Hela makes the most sense, but with Ragnarok having “very little Earth”, a love interest such as Enchantress could take the place of Jane Foster and keep Lady Sif in a love triangle.

Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled to hit theaters November 3, 2017.
