In the months leading up to Captain America: Civil War, fans were curious and excited to find out how such a huge ensemble cast would play out. Especially with regard to the pro-registration side of the conflict, which would feature two heroes for the first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Black Panther played by Chadwick Boseman and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man would fight together against Captain America’s team of vigilantes.

The two characters are vastly different. Black Panther is a warrior prince placed in the extremely important position of becoming king of Wakanda, while Spider-Man is a wisecracking teenager, making light of everything, and still living with his Aunt May. The two will set out on different paths, in the next couple of years, as titular heroes in their own films, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Black Panther. However, when Chadwick Boseman sat down with to promote the Blu-Ray release of Captain America: Civil War, he praised Tom Holland’s youthful fresh take on the character.

“Oh, he’s great. I think he’s great. I can’t wait to see what he does. His humor, the hipness of the character, the youth of the character, it’s a fresh take on something that I really love.”

We can see how beneficial this version of the character will be to the MCU. Since we have already seen a very financially successful Tobey McGuire lead Spider-Man, that was a slightly less funny, older version of the character; and again with the quips but still older Andrew Garfield version. However, Tom Holland will bring out the origins of the character being a carefree teen in high school while still dealing with a series of menacing villains. We’ve already seen how funny the character can be amongst the more serious roles in Civil War, but personally, I can’t wait to laugh even harder when Spider-Man: Homecoming reaches theatres.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to hit the big screen on July 7th, 2017, and Black Panther hits theaters on July 6, 2018
