Yesterday, we reported a rumor that the upcoming Freeform show Cloak and Dagger had found its leads in Noah Gray-Cabey and Debby Ryan as Ty Johnson and Tandy Bowen, respectively. Now, thanks to That Hashtag Show, we also have descriptions for the main characters. As always is the case with this type of thing, the characters are given codenames during the audition process; but the descriptions are unmistakably Cloak and Dagger:

Tara – Female, 18 to play 17, Caucasian. Tara was a plucky southern girl who grew up with everything. She was always full of light. Then an accident took away everything. Now she’s a cynic who steals from tourists to make ends meet. Life took from her. She’s going to take back. But can that light be rekindled? Series Lead.

Travis – Male. 18 to play 17. African American. When Travis was a little boy he was fearless. But then he made a mistake and it cost him dearly. So Travis grew up in a fear. Scared of a world he couldn’t control. So he controlled what he could. Keeping his head down, focusing on school and basketball. Locking in on fear. But is that brave boy still in there? Series Lead.

While these breakdowns are just hitting the public now, we aren’t sure how old they are or where the show currently is in its casting process. In our continuing effort to verify yesterday’s casting rumor, Debby Ryan’s proud parents may have given us more evidence that their daughter will portray Dagger. Both Sandy and Christopher Ryan are following the official twitter page for Cloak and Dagger and have liked several tweets about yesterday’s rumor. Even more telling, Sandy liked a tweet about Gina Prince-Bythewood directing the show’s pilot on January 23rd–the day before we posted our rumor.

While these things are never set in stone until they’re officially announced, we won’t be surprised to hear confirmation of Debby Ryan’s casting very soon. Of course, with the show set to begin production next month, we’re bound to get casting news one way or another any day now.
