Production has already wrapped for Agents of SHIELD but it will be a while until fans get to see the much awaited final season as it premieres sometime next year. The previous season already set up a time travel adventure for the beloved agents as they race against time and the Chronicoms. Chloe Bennet, who plays Daisy Johnson a.k.a Quake, sat down with Digital Spy to talk about the upcoming season and she teased that things are going to be “really really fun.”
I can say we are back in time, so we have to get… the whole goal is to get back to where we were. So that means travelling through a bunch of different time periods and who knows who we see on the way back, if we even get back. It’s actually one of the most… season 4 and season 7 are definitely my favourite seasons of SHIELD.
Bennet explaining that the team needs to get back to the present sort of confirms that it will be their endgame and we can expect a lot of obstacles hindering them to go back to their present timeline. Since we already saw the use of time travel in the MCU courtesy of the Quantum Realm in Avengers Endgame, it is going to be intriguing to see how the time travel element will differ in the show. Travelling through different time periods presents an opportunity for fans to take a trip down memory lane not just on the history of SHIELD but also on the previous seasons of the show.
Fans are definitely in for a treat as Bennet teased that there will be surprise guest appearances throughout the final season. It was already rumored that Hayley Atwell is set to reprise her role as Agent Carter during the upcoming season as well as Patrick Warburton reprising his role as Rick Stoner. With the long list of characters from past and present of the Agents of SHIELD mythology, anything is possible.
Bennet also added that the final season will pay off longtime fans of the series.
For the long-term fans, it’s a really big pay-up and it’s really, really fun… When you’ve done six seasons and that many hours of TV, it’s pretty hard on the writers to think what else do we do, and they killed it. Season seven is a really, really fun one.
With surprise returns of notable characters and a travel through time (and previous seasons), Season 7 of Marvel’s ABC show is leaning towards to be a love letter for the fans.
