One distinction of having a starring role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that even when MCU stars are not promoting a Marvel movie, there is no way to get past answering questions about future Marvel movies. While Marvel is ramping up to the release of Phase 4 in theaters this summer and on Disney+ this fall, there are still plenty of questions as to what is happening after 2021. One of the future projects with the fewest known details thus far is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and thanks to a report from Comicbookmovie.com, we at least know that the Marvel team hasn’t closed any doors on new characters joining the film. At the red carpet premiere of the new Disney/Pixar movie Onward, starring actor Chris Pratt was asked by a reporter about why Thor isn’t a part of his next MCU venture, and he was very quick to give a cryptic response.

How do you know that Thor’s not in Guardians 3? We haven’t shot it yet. He might be in Guardians 3. We don’t know, there’s no definitive yes or no on that.

While Avengers: Endgame left us with the reveal of Thor beginning a galactic road trip of sorts alongside Star-Lord and the Guardians, absolutely nothing has been confirmed in terms of Chris Hemsworth joining the cast of director James Gunn’s next Marvel film. Gunn is still hard at work filming DC’s The Suicide Squad while Hemsworth is set to star as the God of Thunder again in Thor: Love and Thunder, both set to premiere in 2021. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 currently has no confirmed plot or release date, and the fans are all wondering exactly where it will fall in the Marvel timeline with regards to the film’s story and premiere. Whether Thor will team up with the Guardians before or after his next solo adventure, or even if he will show up at all, is still a complete mystery, and we can all only hope we find out the answers to these questions sooner rather than later!
