Thor: Love and Thunder will be the fourth installment of the Thor franchise. The movie will feature the return of Chris Hemsworth as Thor Odinson, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Taika Waititi returning to voice the role of Korg. It has also been speculated that the cancer storyline could play which leads to Jane Foster taking the mantle of Thor. It is not completely known if this storyline will take place, although it is confirmed that she will take mjolnir and become her own version of Thor. It was reported in 2019 that Christian Bale would portray the villain. Until tonight, the identity of such villain was under wraps. It was speculated early on that Bale would be portraying a cosmic villain that would require a large amount of CGI. The movie will begin filming in Australia, and Christian Bale was spotted landing there not so long ago.
At the Disney Investor Day online event tonight, it was revealed by Kevin Feige that Christian would indeed be portraying Gorr The God Butcher. The character is a newer addition to Marvel Comics that debuted in Thor: God of Thunder #2 in 2013. It is not hard to see what he is known for as it is in his name. He is known for his hatred of the Gods and it will be interesting to see how this will play out in the MCU. Will he go after Thor or could he possibly go after Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor? Time will tell, but we can be assured that his villain will require the uniting of mutiple Thors! Thor 4 is currently slated to be released theatrically on February of 2022.
