Agent Coulson himself, Clark Gregg, recently held a Reddit AMA a few days ago and while not much information was offered on what we can expect from the upcoming fifth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., he certainly proved his excitement for whatever they may have cooked up. One rather interesting tidbit that came out was him alluding that he may potentially expand his role from director of SHIELD and its agents to an actual director of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I may direct an episode in season 5. if I don’t pass out from exhaustion just thinking about it.

It is certainly fitting that the acting director of SHIELD would direct an episode of SHIELD. Clark is no novice to working behind the camera, having directed a few projects like the Chuck Palahniuk adaptation Choke and the dramedy starring himself Trust Me in the past. Clark is also the screenwriter of the vastly underrated horror film What Lies Beneath which was directed by the Academy Award-winning Robert Zemeckis. So him getting behind the camera for SHIELD was always bound to happen. Should this ever push through, Clark will be included in a long but prestigious line of actors who have gone behind the camera to direct an episode of the show they starred in. That list of actors includes Bryan Cranston (for Breaking Bad), David Schwimmer (for Friends), and Hugh Laurie (for House M.D.) among others. A pretty good group to be in if you ask us. Maybe Clark can direct an origin episode for Coulson and how he got those dope Captain America trading cards of his.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Would you want to see Clark Gregg direct an episode? What kind of episode do you want to see him direct?
