Despite being a long way from arriving at our TV screens, the season six of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is starting the production of its first episodes. Today, the official Marvel and Marvel TV social media accounts revealed the title of the premiere episode and the return of a director we’re all too familiar with.

The first thing we learn from the post is that the first episode will be called “Missing Pieces”. It’s not a title that says much, given what happened in the previous season finale, but it does kind of fit with that episode’s title. It was “The End”, but there are still a few “Missing Pieces”. Does that make sense? Probably not. Anyways, the image tells us next that the writers of the episode are Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, which comes as absolutely no surprise since the married duo has written almost every premiere and season finale of the show to this day, while also serving as showrunners alongside Jeffrey Bell.

The biggest thing revealed is probably the directing chair being given to Clark Gregg once more, after his successful directorial attempt on the sixth episode of season five, “Fun and Games”. We don’t know for sure if Gregg’s behind-the-scenes presence this season extends to the front of the camera in a major capacity but we’re nonetheless just happy to still have him on the show.

Whether Coulson returns to help the team once more or shows up only in flashbacks, remains to be seen. We will have to wait and see. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. does not have yet a confirmed return date, though mid-2019 is heavily speculated.
