D23 is quite a bit event for Disney as they continue to build up momentum towards their streaming service Disney+. Marvel Studios already teased quite a bit during their SDCC panel but D23 offers them an additional chance to give some further insight into their ongoing projects. Not only did Kevin Feige hint at the story and theme of the upcoming Disney+ WandaVision mini-series but he also confirmed some additional cast members for the show.
This show will see a lot of returning characters from MCU history as Kat Dennings and Randall Park are slated to appear.
Randall Park played Jimmy Woo in Ant-Man and the Wasp where he supervised Scott Lang during his house arrest. He was a fun addition to the MCU and it will be interesting to see how he is added into this show. The actor has already gathered quite a bit of experience on the sitcom Fresh Off the Boat which makes him a perfect addition for the first MCU sitcom.
The biggest surprise is the return of Darcy, as we haven’t seen Kat Dennings in the MCU since Thor: The Dark World. In a way, it makes sense for her to be part of this sitcom given her role on 2 Broke Girls.
The question remains how these characters will play into the story. Darcy, Jimmy Woo, and Monica Rambeau are characters you’d least expect to appear in a show like Wandavision. In addition to these additions, they also announced that Kathryn Hahn will be joining the cast as a nosy neighbor but didn’t reveal the character’s name.
