Surprisingly buried in the surge of massive news yesterday was the report that Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has signed on to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a disclosed role. What seemed like an unforeseen story has been confirmed on stage as our lord and savior Kevin Feige brought out Harington on stage in D23 and revealed his role as Dane Whitman aka Black Knight in the Eternals.

So this is pretty huge. We’ve been hearing about the Black Knight for the longest time now and Eternals is certainly the last film we expected a character like him to show up in. But it’s Harington and we love Game of Thrones so we’ll take him whenever we can. It’ll be super interesting to see how a character like Whitman ties into the larger cosmic MCU.
