One of the stars that received the loudest screams in the Avengers: Infinity War presentation was Sebastian Stan. The ladies just love him more than some of the big Avengers stars. I don’t know if it’s because of his rugged looks or puppy-dog image as James Buchanan Barnes but the dude just has it. Because of this, fans are always on the look out for the next Winter Soldier appearance. And because we last saw Bucky freeze his butt off in a secure lab in Wakanda, those same fans wondered if he would be making an appearance in the Black Panther. Here’s what he had to say about it in an interview with Good Morning America.

No I’m not. I really am not. But you know, that gets resolved in this one [Infinity War].
A surprising answer if you ask me. Some fans including myself have postulated for the longest time that Bucky’s fugitive status and asylum in Wakanda could play into the larger arc of Black Panther It makes sense given the connectivity between the events of Captain America: Civil War and this film. But at the same time, it’s also logical to keep major tie-ins to other films out of the solo debut of the King of Wakanda. Interconnectivity is cool but it’s also nice to keep stand alone films concise and tight.
The big question now is where the hell is Bucky when all that stuff in Black Panther goes down? Spider-Man: Homecoming pretty much retconned the entire timeline of the MCU in a huge way. And maybe that timeline change put a substantial gap between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther that allows Bucky to be someplace else when it takes place. Maybe Bucky took a cryogenic nap and bounced as soon as he woke up. Maybe Bucky frozen body gets shipped someplace else as soon as they put him to sleep at the end of Civil War.
What do you think happened to Bucky between Civil War and Black Panther? Think Sebastian is just throwing our scent off? Where do you think is Bucky’s whereabouts come next year? Let us know in the comments below!
