2018 just became the MCU’s biggest year. Sometime this past weekend, the good folks at Entertainment Weekly released a preview catalog that listed something pretty interesting for them Marvel/Netflix shows: the subsequent seasons of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Daredevil will all be coming out next year year.
Now we all kinda of speculated that Luke Cage Season 2 and Jessica Jones Season 2 would premiere some next year, with both shows currently in production and thanks to a guesstimate from Mike Colter. The Daredevil one is the nice surprise here. A surprise and welcome one at that. We know that Daredevil Season 3 is bound to gear up its filming schedule later this year but there never was any concrete indication that the show would premiere in the same year. With the release of Punisher later in November, 2017 is the year Netflix – along with the MCU film division – will attempt to release 3 projects in a single year so if all goes well for them with that, it’s a safe bet that they do it next year too. Plus Entertainment Weekly is a pretty legit source for all things Defenders so we’ll stick to what they say until Marvel and Netflix actually confirm it.
And while Finn Jones has been hyping it the past few weeks, there’s still no official word yet on whether Iron Fist has been greenlit for a Season 2. But given how we’re practically halfway ’round the year at this point, if the sophomore season does get greenlit, we wouldn’t see it premiere until 2019, I’m guessing.
