During a press junket interview with Digital Spy for his movie Final Score, Dave Bautista was asked about Avengers 4 and what surprises it might hold for audiences and himself, but he was more concerned with the possibility of changes to the plot that may occur due to the firing of James Gunn by Disney and the delay of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

It’s kind of a strange situation to be in now where we’ve lost our director for Guardians. Guardians 3 is really up in the air and I don’t know what they’re going to do with it. It’s on permanent hold for now, and that may make a difference in what they do with our characters in Avengers 4. To be honest with you, right now I really don’t know.

Considering that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was put on an indefinite hold and with the likelihood that James Gunn’s script may not be used, it puts Dave Bautista’s involvement in future movies past Avengers 4 at risk. Especially since it was reported that James Gunn would have been in charge of the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but now that he’s gone and the movie has been delayed, those plans are also at risk.

But I know I’m in Avengers 4. I’ve shot most of it already. I do have two days of reshoots. But other than that, I have some really great scenes that I hope they use. But I guess that it remains to be seen what they’ll do with the characters.

It’s possible that the Russo brothers could use these reshoots as an opportunity to give a more final conclusion to the Guardian of the Galaxy characters or replacing scenes that would have more directly led to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is no longer on the schedule for the foreseeable future.
