The MCU suffered a massive blow yesterday when Guardians of the Galaxy‘s visionary director James Gunn was fired from the third film following a controversy surrounding old tweets of his. The community, for the most part, seems divided on the issue with some saying that Gunn shouldn’t have been fired and that the problem is larger than tweets that Gunn has made amends for. Included in the lot supporting Gunn is none other than Dave Bautista, who took Twitter to show love and support to his friend.
I will have more to say but for right now all I will say is this..@JamesGunn is one of the most loving, caring, good natured people I have ever met. He’s gentle and kind and cares deeply for people and animals. He’s made mistakes. We all have. Im NOT ok with what’s happening to him

The next several weeks will be interesting as we will surely hear more MCU actors speak about this controversial decision. Even Ant-Man & the Wasp star David Dastmalchian shared his support for his director friend on Instagram.

i’ve been saying this FOR YEARS! @jamesgunn is one of the most amazing people i’ve ever known – both professionally & personally. there are so many people in our lives that we would never have known without the incredible magnet of talent & goodness that is james (& his awesome partner in life, @jenniferlholland). thanks for making us a part of your family, buddy.
As the conversation about this issue continues, some are already starting to talk about potential replacements to take over Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Taika Waititi seems to be the fan-favorite here given how tonally close his vision for Thor: Ragnarok is to the Guardians films. I’ve seen Brad Bird‘s name get tossed into the mix as well.
