Man, this is just another never ending roller coaster, isn’t it? After a rumor was circulating today on Twitter about Disney completely throwing away James Gunn’s script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it seems like the opposite is being reported now by The Hollywood Reporter. They’re saying that James Gunn is still in negotiations with Disney about his potential exit settlements and that a big part of it is that Disney still have plans to use his script.

Some experienced talent reps estimate that due to the unique situation, Gunn could receive a payout of $7 million to $10 million, if not potentially higher. And, more importantly, he would be free to take on another project immediately. Also affecting the negotiations is that sources say Disney plans on using Gunn’s script for the third movie.

Not only is this good news for fans of Dave Bautista, who threatened to quit if James Gunn’s script wasn’t used, there is even better news later in the article and a glimmer of hope for fans.

And there may be an unexpected twist to the story. Two sources say there is a hope through the talks that Gunn could return in some fashion, even if it’s to develop and direct another Marvel movie. “An end-all verdict hasn’t been issued and conversations with Marvel are still ongoing,” says one source familiar with the proceedings.

Now, I’m not going to hold my breath for one second, considering the fact that it was first reported that Disney insiders said he may be reinstated, then that it was unlikely he’d be rehired, and now we’re hearing that him returning is still on the table – again.
