Disney+ made an impression during last weekend’s D23 Expo as it shows various contents and teases on what to expect when the service starts streaming on November 12 for the US and selected countries. The streaming service is set to include a wide array of original content from the likes of Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and National Geographic. However, a Disney+ representative confirmed during a Disney+ demo in D23 that it will not stream R-rated content.
In a tweet from entertainment writer, Eric Vespe, he mentioned that a Disney+ representative informed him that the service will only include PG-13 shows and movies or softer. You can check out the tweet below.
I asked about R-rated content, if any of Fox’s more adult fare will make it on to Disney+ and he said that Disney+ will all be PG-13 or softer. I wonder if this will be their weakness that other streaming services can exploit.

This is not shocking as Disney is well known to protect their family-friendly image. Vespe further speculated that this might be the ‘weakness’ that other streaming services can take advantage of. It is going to be intriguing to know the treatment of the studio for the recently announced Moon Knight series. This has been the center of debate among fans where most seem to expect that the series will go on the hard R-rated treatment. However, this seems to not be the case since the character is part of the MCU and is a sure bet to cross over to the movies along the line.
We can also expect PG-13 ratings for all the Disney+ series that is part of the MCU as well. It goes to show that there will be consistency between the series and the movies ratings-wise.
