The MCU beyond-Avengers 4 is starting to shape up with Spider-Man: Far From Home in-production and Black Widow and Eternals scoring directors. Now, the sequel to the hit Doctor Strange may soon follow suite as star Benedict Wong revealed that filming may begin as early as this year. This reveal comes after it was initially reported by a UK tabloid that filming would instead commence in the spring of 2019 in London.

So this may be a case of the Doctor Strange sequel being moved up ahead in place of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which has been pushed back for an indefinite period of time. Before all of the James Gunn drama went down, Kevin Feige revealed that production for Vol. 3 was being eyed for early 2019. Interestingly enough, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson did some cryptic teasing on Instagram last month, possibly hinting that writing and pre-production for the sequel has begun.
