Back in May, JoBlo revealed some interesting information regarding Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, most notably what role actress Elizabeth Debicki was rumored to be playing. As often is the case with Marvel, when they announced the actress as part of the cast of the sequel, they made it a point to avoid revealing her role in the film, leaving many to guess over recent months just who exactly she’d be playing. At one point, fans even thought there was a possibility of her playing Captain Marvel. But during today’s Hall H panel at SDCC, the studio finally confirmed that, yes, she is playing the role of Ayesha in the highly anticipated sequel.

Here’s the breakdown from our initial write-up of Jo Blo’s rumor.

According to JoBlo’s latest report, the main villain will actually be Ayesha, played by Elizabeth Debicki. Now they do not reveal any other details about her plan or desire, but still, this means that 2 out of the 3 MCU films next year have lead female baddies.

With everything that Marvel revealed today, we nearly missed out on the confirmation on Debicki’s character. In fact, it wasn’t until a user sent us this screengrab from the Marvel liveblog that we saw the actual confirmation. (Thanks!)
