So the Eternals has pretty much been all but confirmed at this point. In addition to the fact that Marvel has hired writers for the project, namely Matthew Firpo and Ryan Firpo, our lord and savior Kevin Feige has already been openly talking about it with the press. In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Papa Feige shared ways the Eternals could expand the MCU:

There’s this notion of all of these myths and legends that we know from ancient times, were they inspired by the Eternals? It’s a very … you know, it’s an ancient aliens kind of sci-fi trope that we think would be fun to explore someday.

As a fan of ancient historical conspiracies, I’m very excited on what historical blanks the Eternals film will fill. The MCU has always been clever in their chronicling of the unseen past of the MCU. Films like Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor combined mystic supernatural myths with natural human history. Black Panther chronicled the origins of the most technologically advanced kingdom on the planet and relation to the slave trade. Captain Marvel will reveal the beginnings of an intergalactic war involving Earth. For the Eternals, I hope they go biblical in their historical exploration.
