Casting for that gay lead has become a lot more specific and it isn’t Hercules like everyone (including me) assumed. Instead, That Hashtag Show is reporting that Marvel Studios is looking for an openly gay/bisexual Asian actor in their 20s to play the lead character of James, who is describe as “intellectual, emotional, and has a strong sense of family.”
If this is the case, then this would actually make The Eternals Marvel Studios’ first Asian led movie before Shang-Chi.
Additionally, That Hashtag Show indicates that Conrad Ricamora is on the top of Marvel Studios’s list, who is currently starring in the television show How To Get Away With Murder. But, they never received confirmation of this from his agent.
So far, this movie will be starring Angelina Jolie as (likely) Sersi and Kumail Nanjiani in a currently unknown role. So far, this movie looks to be having a pretty interesting cast of actors that will be directed by Chloe Zhao and written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. Production will be starting this September with an assumed release date of November 6, 2020.
