2017 is almost at its halfway point but many are already looking towards the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with 2018. Outside of the ambitious lit Black Panther film and the culmination of ten years of work with Avengers: Infinity War, another small but significant release lies in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Even with so much focus being on May’s release of Infinity War, the film focusing on the size-altering duo is picking up its production, as it will already air by July 6th.
One major component that has many people wondering is what role the now upgraded Hope Van Dyne a.k.a. the new Wasp will have. While the first film offered a look at the costume that was worn by her mother and a prototype that featured the more classic yellow design. With the film’s coming production start, it makes sense that costume testing is slowly coming along, and a recent tweet by Evangeline Lilly has already teased her excitement for trying it out.

She is definitely not the only one who is getting excited for seeing the Wasp finally join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in full. Considering that the character was originally going to join in Joss Whedon‘s first vision of The Avengers, we finally are getting our opportunity to see her in more than just a short cameo. Another question haunting the film is if we will get a closer look at the history behind the title characters, as the Wasp and Ant-Man are legacies held by Hank Pym and his late wife, Janet van Dyne. Maybe we will get flashbacks to their days as heroes and potentially how it ties into whatever story is told in the modern day.
What are your thoughts on the matter? What design would you like to see from the costume?
