In just a couple of days, Avengers: Infinity War will be out all over the world leaving Ant-Man & the Wasp as the only Marvel Cinematic Universe film left for the year. Not much is known about the specifics of the plot save for the film’s synopsis. But now, more details have come in. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the titular star of the film Evangeline Lilly revealed Wasp’s upcoming arc for the film, saying:
Scott entered the Quantum Realm in the first film and came back, which is something they thought was impossible. The question has arisen, ‘Can Janet come back?’ So the entire film, my character is hell-bent on finding a way to get into the Quantum Realm and bring her back.
Following where the first Ant-Man film ended, it makes sense for Hope and Hank to race into the Quantum Realm after learning that it is possible to survive such a dimension. We’ve heard hints about the Quantum Realm’s largening significance in the MCU’s future. Last year, it was reported that the Quantum Realm may play a part in Captain Marvel as well in addition to Ant-Man & the Wasp. Lilly also spoke about Michelle Pfeiffer‘s involvement in the film, saying:
She hasn’t done one of these films since she played Catwoman with Tim Burton. It was really interesting to bring her in and get her up to speed on all the mythology and her place in this world.
Despite being absent from the trailers and the rest of the Avengers: Infinity War marketing campaign, the Russos have hinted at the small role (pun intended) Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne have in the film. They’ve also previously revealed that the sequel will tie-in to Infinity War more than any other Phase 3 film.
