Fans were pretty upset when ABC decided to cancel its show Agent Carter. Centering around Peggy Carter, the network decided to cut the show loose due to decreasing-to-low viewership. Since then, fans have desperately been wanting Peggy to return to the TV screen. There was a petition for Netflix to pick the show up. With the success of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage, Marvel fans thought Netflix was the perfect home for Agent Carter.
Except, Netflix didn’t want Agent Carter. So, the idea of Peggy getting her own show again was crushed. After all, Hayley Atwell was busy with another show. It had seemed the actress had moved on from the MCU. [SPOILER] They killed off her character in Captain America: Civil War and it seemed like that was it.
With the recent cancellation of Atwell’s short-lived show Conviction, fans and experienced manufacturers have risen once more with a new petition for the return of Agent Carter. This time, it’s directed at Marvel itself. Other than Jessica Jones, Marvel doesn’t have any female-centered shows or movies and considering the impact of Peggy Carter as a character and a role model for so many young girls, it’s no wonder why these petitions occur more than once.
Back on August 5, 2016, we covered Hayley Atwell’s interest in reprising her role:
“I’d love it to be [still on the table],” she said. “The great thing about Peggy is she lives a long life. I’m banking on being in my 50s and going, ‘Let’s see what Peggy’s up to.’” Source: The Wrap.
