Just like Captain America: The First Avenger was the final step towards the first Avengers, Iron Fist is the last piece of the puzzle for The Defenders. We’ve had two seasons of Daredevil and one season each for Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. And before we get to the NYC mashup of the year, we need to find out who Danny Rand is first.
For comic book lovers, Danny Rand is not a mystery. An orphan who learns the ways of the Iron Fist, he goes on to team up with Power Man (Luke Cage) and forms Heroes for Hire. But, with the movies and Netflix, there is a new era of superhero fans who are not familiar with their hero’s comic book backgrounds. People, for the most part, knew who Daredevil was, but the other three needed special introductions and on March 17th, Danny Rand is getting his.
In a featurette from the official Iron Fist twitter page, we get a quick recap of who Danny Rand is. What is really a compilation of what we’ve seen in previous trailers along with striking motion graphics, we get key tidbits of who the last Defender is. Colleen Wing and Claire Temple make appearances in the video; which, of course, makes us even more pumped. We also see Madama Gao – who was a big part of Daredevil’s first season and as the Crane Mother, was able to keep her business going undetected for the most part – deliver her line heard from the previous trailer.

Iron Fist also follows a trend in superhero lore of a child losing their parents and coming back after years away to collect their fortune, only to find out that corrupt hands have gotten a hold of it. We see this in almost every Batman rendition and CW’s Arrow. Iron Fist premieres March 17th of this year and showcases Finn Jones as Danny Rand, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.
