One of the many complaints fans had about the first season of Iron Fist was the absence of Shou-Lao the Undying, the mystical dragon Danny had to fight in order to become the Immortal Iron Fist, protector of Kun-Lun, Sworn Enemy of the Hand. Rumors, reports, and comments from people who watched the season two clips over at San Diego Comic-Con gave everyone the impression that we might see the character this time around, eliciting hope in fans who wanted more than emergency lights as dragon eyes.

During an SDCC interview with Collider, Finn Jones answered one of the questions asked to him and many think it could mean that we will not get any dragon-action this year. Talking about his and Jessica Henwick‘s previous experience on Game of Thrones, the duo were asked which element from Game of Thrones they wished they could bring on to Iron Fist season three to which Finn jokingly replied, “The dragon,” referring to the many scenes of the HBO series that involved movie-quality CG dragons, just as we all had wished to see on Iron Fist. You can see the answer in the video attached below which is timestamped accordingly.

Now because of the joking nature of the answer, we can only look to Finn’s answer as a mere hint that we still won’t get a dragon for Iron Fist Season 2. It could be a joke towards the Game of Thrones movie-quality CG dragon that the Marvel-Netflix crew likely can’t afford. He could be purposefully throwing the fandom off scent just to create a bigger surprise when it happens but whatever it is, it sure gets us further away from any sort of affirmation.
