Happy Holidays Marvel fans! As all of us around the world light our Hanukkah candles and celebrate Christmas morning with our families, news season for the MCU is also really starting to come into full swing. The last few days of 2019 are continuing that trend in bunches with plenty of news into the MCU’s future projects, although this bit of news gives us a first look into something very near and dear to our hearts already: the end of the MCU’s flagship TV series. Thanks to TVLine.com, the first look at the 7th and final season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has finally hit the internet, and it looks like we’re going to be taking quite the ride through the Marvel timeline!

MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. – “Episode701” (ABC/Mitch Haaseth)

When we last left our favorite SHIELD team in season 6 after defeating Izel and Sarge, barely escaping with their lives, they had managed to escape in the newly tricked-out Zephyr all the way back to 1931 thanks to the time travel modifications made by Agents Fitz and Simmons. In this new photo, we see the new ultimate-LMD version of Phil Coulson along with Daisy, Mack, and Deke as they try to blend in to their new surroundings and get to the bottom of their new mystery, trying to answer their many questions about Nick Fury’s black box and the entire history of SHIELD as they know it. Speaking to TVLine, showrunner Jed Whendon had this to say about the final season’s premise:

The team’s final, timey-wimey mission is to preserve the history that we’ve grown to know and love on our show. It’s a way for us to look back at everything we’ve done and talk about the history of S.H.I.E.L.D. as we bring the show to its final chapter.

We have seen an incredible journey through the course of the MCU’s original TV series, and this season will no doubt continue along that same road as we see this final chapter of Marvel TV come to a close. Season 7 of Agents of SHIELD premieres in Summer 2020, and none of us can wait to find out how the story will end!
