If there was a villainous enforcer whose stint in the MCU felt short-lived, it has to be Frank Grillo‘s Brock Rumlow aka Crossbones. Rumlow’s inclusion in Captain America: The Winter Soldier was a cool nugget that was yet to be realized but nonetheless pleased fans. When he finally appeared as the scarred baddie in Captain America: Civil War, fully realized in his signature battle armor, he proved to be a fearsome foe against Captain America himself, only to meet his demise soon after. Since then, Grillo has been giving conflicting answers regarding a possible return. And this recent interview with Forbes has him more optimistic at an eventual return.

It’s great to be part of Marvel too, and I have three boys who are fanatical about Marvel, and I was surprised not too long ago because there is some news that nobody knows yet, to do with my character, that’s going to be really interesting and I’m excited about that.

Crossbones gained notoriety in the comics when he successfully managed to assassinate Captain America following the events of Civil War. Beyond that however, the character was involved in several status quo changes in the Marvel Universe. After the events of Siege, the character was invited to be a part of the reformed and updated Thunderbolts, a team fans have been clamoring for in the past few years. Had he not been killed, a scenario where Crossbones gets to join a government sanctioned strike team composed of villains would have been amazing to see. Grillo absolutely killed it in that role and a potential return sure is something we wouldn’t mind, be it a flashback or a weird reality retcon at the hands of Thanos.
