The Netflix side of the MCU is continuing to grow as Jessica Jones hits the streaming platform later this year, season 2 of Daredevil currently filming, and Luke Cage having recently begun production on its first season. Mike Colter has been attached to star as Luke Cage for some time now, but over the last few days, his supporting cast has started to take form.
It started with Alfre Woodard reportedly playing one of the villains (a variation of Black Mariah), and has expanded to inlcude Theo Rossi, who joined the cast as Shades, a returning Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Simone Missik as Misty Knight, and most recently Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth. Now, thanks to a new report from Deadline, we can add another name to the cast.
Deadline is reporting that Frank Whaley has been cast in Luke Cage as Detective Scarfe. They describe Whaley’s character as “a hard-nosed detective,” which could lead to future ties with Nelson & Murdock and possibly Cage’s close friend and possible love interest Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter).
Luke Cage is roughly scheduled to come out summer/fall of 2016.
