While Marvel Studios did not have a presence at SDCC ’15, Marvel TV was there to discuss the upcoming seasons of Agent Carter and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The Season 3 synopsis is as follows:

In the aftermath of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s battle with Jiaying and the Inhumans, Director Coulson will search the world for more powered people and assemble an extraordinary new team to deal with threats unlike the world has ever seen. However, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will soon find out they’re not the only ones tracking down these new Inhumans.

Now we know who else will be tracking down the new Inhumans: Lash.

Lash was first seen in the comics in Charles Soule’s Inhuman #1 in June of 2014. The events of the Infinity event saw the Inhuman king Black Bolt ignite a Terrigen Bomb that covered the world in Terrigen Mist, causing the mass Terrigenesis of thousands. One of the sole survivors of Orollan, a hidden Inhuman city in Greenland destroyed by one of the newly powered Inhumans, Lash set out on a mission to find and evaluate the worthiness of the large new crop.

While Black Bolt sought to prepare the world by increasing the number of people who COULD undergo Terrigenesis, Lash believed the process to be an honor to bestowed only on those that SHOULD undergo Terrigenesis. Lash dealt harshly with those he deemed unworthy, eliminating them by emitting large amounts of energy from his hand and disintegrating them.

His journey brought him to odds with the Royal Family, especially Queen Medusa who sought to bring all the new Inhuman (NuHumans) under her protection in the Royal city of Attilan.

Given the ending to last season saw the mass release of Terrigen into fish oil, it’s quite likely that a similar story line could be followed throughout at least the first half of Season 3. Skye and her team of Caterpillars could easily find themselves investigating the deaths of a whole bunch of newly transformed Inhumans, eventually running across Lash. That could stir up quite an interesting conversation, in addition to a conflict, as it’s possible Lash will be well aware of the Inhuman Royal Family. If so, our first mention of the mythos behind Black Bolt and Medusa could come via Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. To be clear I do not expect any of the major Inhuman players to appear on the show, but I won’t be surprised to have some exposition about them as we learn more about the Inhumans and the divide between the factions.
