Next year, we will start our first look at Marvel Studios expansion through Disney+. They have confirmed quite a lot of different shows that are in different stages of development. WandaVision is confirmed to start filming in November. 2021 will also see the release of a series focusing on Hawkeye with the confirmation that we will be introduced to Kate Bishop in the series. Even though the series won’t enter production for some time, it looks like they are already starting to cast Kate Bishop with Hailee Steinfeld being their top choice for the role. She was offered the lead role according to an exclusive by Variety. This early casting might also be a hint at her character making an earlier appearance with Falcon and the Winter Soldier as a fitting place to introduce her before she is taught by Jeremy Renner‘s Clint Barton.

The casting makes sense, as these Disney+ shows are going to act as jumping-off points for many characters to join the greater MCU. There also seems to be a bigger sense of expanding the MCU through younger Avengers characters, which would make her a great choice to carry on the torch of Hawkeye. Moreover, Steinfeld has been building up quite a career with major films like Bumblebee and The Edge of Seventeen. She will also star in the upcoming Apple series Dickinson which would make this her second TV lead. It also isn’t her first time in a Marvel film, as she voiced Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. She is no stranger to larger franchise films and may be open to having a multi-film contract to carry on the torch into and beyond Phase 4.

What do you think of this casting? Do you think she is the right choice for the role?
