In just a few months, Marvel will be taking their productions down under to Australia the home of star Chris Hemsworth. This is where they will be filming the majority of Thor: Ragnarok in time for the 2017 release. The pre-production rumors for this movie have been going on for quite some time with us now knowing that Thor will be joined by Hulk and newcomer Cate Blanchett as the villain.
Now, both Hemsworth and Blanchett have talked separately about their excitement for the movie and it means to them. While neither of them gave any new details about what the movie is about or what they would be doing, they both are looking forward to the movie.
During an interview with GQ Australia, Hemsworth talked about how happy he is to have the film shoot close to home and how he was an influential part of it being considered.
Hemsworth: It’s when I was here a couple years ago doing some press and talking to people and they’re saying ‘Oh we need to bring film back here cause we used to do a lot of films here in Australia.’ And that’s what I brought up, when we had an opportunity you know to talk about where it was going to be shot, I said, ‘Why can’t it be Australia?’ And they went, ‘Oh well it’s a long way’ and so on. I kept pushing and that became a bigger and bigger conversation and then it landed here and I couldn’t be happier.
Blanchett also recently talked to V live.tv where she was asked about her upcoming schedule and talked a little bit about her joining the Marvel universe.
Blanchett: I did a play last year and I’m doing a play at the end of the year and a Marvel film which I’m super super excited about. I’ve only done action a couple of times so it feels like a, departure is too strong a word, but it certainly seems like a change for me. I’m looking forward to getting fit and you know wear lycra and hoping to earn a bit of street cred for my kids.
As we get closer and closer to the June start date for Thor: Ragnarok, we should start to get some official word from Marvel on who is and is not in the movie, as well as get an official synopsis regarding the plot.
Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled to hit theaters November 3, 2017.
